Sunday Live Sessions presents Deodato Siquir

With Isildo João Novela (mozambican) and Soren Heller (Swedish), Siquir grooves in a magic interaction with the energetic percussion, guitars, keyboard and saxophone for an electrifying performance full of pulsating rhythms, Jazz fusion and African beats such as Marrabenta, Muthimba, and Muganda, resulting in a sophisticated vibrant sound. Add soft poetic singing in a mix of Portuguese, English and Ronga and lyrics on universal themes.


The evening will begin with Brazil v Cote D'ivoire - kick off 7:30pm, followed by a live performance from Deodato Siquir and DJ Chico Urbanus keeping the party going 'tll late

 

Deodato Siquir


Born in a musicians family, in Maputo, Mozambique. Based in Sweden since 2001 is been collaborating with musicians from around the world, as Etienne Mbappé, Jorge Bezerra, Linley Marthe, Soweto Kinch, Moussa Diallo, Bobby Rickets and many others.

 

His debut solo album BALANÇO, that was pre-leased at Womex 2007 in Sevilla, and got great reviews internationally. Since the release, its been on World Music Charst Europe Top 20 for 3 months, on top 10 on RDP Africa, receiving 5 Djembes and nominated Top of the World 2008 in the Danish music magazine Djembe (now Cultures) , Balanço has been reviewed by mondomix.com, Behind The Notes, Jazz Special, World Music Central etc.

 

Deodato won the Mozambican national NGOMA Revelation Award 2008.
